Nitsuj - I agree. I know someone who feels "entitled" to act rudely because of her age. While I respect and admire her longevity, it does not give her a free pass to behave badly. Respect should be given and received by all. If it was, the world would be a much nicer place.

ReplyEllen Robertson is probably the best teacher around. Many of us know her from her classes at the YMCA. You WILL feel better for having gone to this event!

ReplyKaren - I love how multicultural your family is and how they incorporate different traditions into this celebration. I am THRILLED that my daughter is proud of her Chinese heritage! She beams with pride at Chinese celebrations and understands that she is part of a rich culture. My son, who is not Chinese, turned to his sister the other day as we celebrated and said, "It's because of you that we get to celebrate this wonderful holiday!" My daughter looked up at him, her eyes shining, and said, "It's so cool to be Chinese." Happy New Year To All!

ReplyHey Brian: you forgot to pay homage to chili! Soup is fine, but chili is an easy, nutritious dish that can be made in a crockpot. Cheap to make, too. Nice article.

ReplyThe Environmental Center is one the best kept secrets for moms. Its classes are great & VERY affordable! The grounds offer one of the most beautiful hiking areas around where the kids can lead parents without fear of getting lost. Parents: take a good look at this jewel of Essex!

ReplyWouldn't miss either one, especially the Kmart in W. Orange? Bulldoze it. Now. What a dirty store with nasty personnel! When are these places going to learn that customer service really means something?

ReplyThis is great, in concept, but you've really got to be very careful. Some of this stuff has been in basements, etc. and may not be clean, have working parts, or even be in the condition listed. Free or not, sometimes junk is junk.

ReplyI love Meyer's selection of dolls. If you're looking beyond the blue-eyed, blond-haired dominated array they have in most stores, this is the place to go. They have more Asian dolls than any other place I've seen.

Congrats to Mr. Leister and everyone at Collins! Ever since Mr. Leister came to Collins, the school has seen such a turnaround in terms its sense of community as well as academics. What a warm, wonderful place to have children learn!
