The borough and school district have two separate budgets and calculate their own taxes in two separate ways, so while your municipal taxes in Raritan might be increasing because of that budget, your school taxes are decreasing based on the budget approved by the district. Hope that helps!

This increase is only for the budget developed by fire district 4 and affecting residents who live in that district (and being used strictly for the fire companies in that district). The budget the mayor discussed is the Bridgewater Township budget affecting all residents and being approved by the council in a few months. Hope that helps!
