United Presbyterian Church and Elmwood West Presbyterian Church On Saturday, April 7 at 1 p.m. there will be an Easter Egg Hunt and Puppet Show hosted by the United Presbyterian Church and Elmwood West Presbyterian Church. We are located at 20 Old Indian Road in West Orange. The puppet show is entitled "Joshua's Resurrection" and is about a boy who is losing his faith, but learns the true meaning of the Easter Resurrection. All are welcome! Also at UPC this week... Thursday, April 5 is Maundy Thursday and there will be a Tenebrae Service at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 6 is Good Friday and worship service is at 7:30 p.m. On Easter Sunday we have two services. Pleasantdale Presbyterian Church is very proud to have hosted Pleasant Valley Productions' inaugural show “Songs for a New World” in its Sanctuary this past Friday and Saturday evenings. Thanks to all of the members of the cast and crew, the church staff and the members of the community, for making the show such a success! We look forward to the next production! This week, we welcome back violinist Ed Black, who will play during the Sunday morning worship. He will be accompanied by Church Music Director Fran Testa on piano. The service will begin at 11 a.m. The church is also pleased to announce an exhibit of photographs by church member Charles Passavant. The photographs include many nature scenes and still lifes from around New Jersey. …

Pleasantdale Presbyterian Church Pleasantdale Presbyterian Church is proud to be hosting two wonderful events this weekend and next. This Sunday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m., the church will hold a Jazz Vespers Service. This alternative format service blends the age-old tradition of evening prayer with the unique musical language of jazz. It will feature a special selection of blues music led by Dave Rimelis. It will feature trombonist Bob Ferrel and others. The service will also include special readings, poetry, prayers and communion. The service honors the diversity of the West Orange community and the contribution of the creative arts to the life of the community. It celebrates inclusivity and creativity and is open to all. Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of the Season of Lent, is Wednesday, Feb. 22. For Roman Catholics, it is a 40-day period of penance, reflection and fasting in preparation for celebrating Christ’s Resurrection on Easter Sunday. The two Catholic churches in West Orange are collaborating to provide a full slate of Lenten programs at various days and times to accommodate the needs and schedules of the faithful. On Wednesday, distribution of ashes will take place at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, One Eagle Rock Avenue, at the 7 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Masses, as well as at prayer services at 12 noon and 3:30 p.m., and an evening Mass at 7:30 p.m. Saint Joseph’s Church, 44 Benevenue Avenue, will distribute ashes at Masses at 7 a.m., 8:30 a.m., …

Pleasantdale Presbyterian Church Pleasantdale Presbyterian Church has some very super plans for this Sunday! The 11 a.m. worship will be a special Scout Sunday Observance in honor of the 101st Anniversary of the establishment of the Boy Scouts of America. All area Scouts, Scout Leaders and their families are welcome to attend. Please plan to wear your uniform to the service. Pleasantdale Church is the proud sponsor of Cub Scout Pack 10 and Boy Scout Troop 2. Light refreshments will be served after the Worship Service.
