Teacher Avoids Jail in Student Sex Case, Drug-Plugged Butt Top State News

A West Orange High School English teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student pleaded guilty Tuesday to endangering the welfare of a child, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s office. A traffic stop on the Palisades Interstate Parkway Thursday led police to the arrest of an alleged gang member with 100 bags of heroin concealed in his anus, authorities said.  Two Flanders residents died after an early-morning fire Monday. Early news reports named Hoboken resident Ryan Lanza, a 24-year-old Quinnipiac University graduate, as the shooter who had massacred 20 school children in a sleepy Connecticut town. Subsequent reports named Lanza's younger brother, Adam, as the actual shooter. Gov. Chris Christie requested the removal of Robert Bianchi as prosecutor six months after his term expired. Fredric Knapp was sworn in as acting Morris County prosecutor Friday. More than $10,000 in damages, including spray painted expletives and derogatory terms, were done to former Wyckoff Township Committee Candidate Eileen Avia's home, and two residents' cars Saturday night.
