The musical centers around a group of unemployed steelworkers in Buffalo, New York, who come up with a bold way to make some quick cash after seeing how much their wives enjoy watching male strippers during their "Girls' Night Out." The book is by Terrence McNally, with music and lyrics by David Yazbek. Nicholas J. Clarey, interACT’s artistic director, will direct this production. Tickets are going fast for the February performances of children’s classic.
Act now! Tickets are going fast. After the first weekend's show sold out, another weekend was added. Those tickets are selling briskly. Charlotte’s Web, the beloved children's classic, is being presented by interACT Theatre Productions at The Baird in South Orange with a cast featuring nearly 50 young performers from the region. Based on the book by E.B. Auditions will be January 29 and January 30 for interACT Theatre Production’s presentation of Neil Simon’s Plaza Suite. One of Neil Simon's most popular and celebrated plays, Plaza Suite details the misadventures of three very different couples facing crucial moments in their respective lives with hilarious consequences -- all set in the same room in New York's world-famous Plaza Hotel. Christine Gaden will direct this non-equity production. Audition will be 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29 and Wednesday, January 30 at the Baird Theatre, 5 Mead Street, South Orange. The Crucible, Arthur Miller's well-known Colonial “witch hunt,” is being peformed this weekend at the Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts in Maplewood. Part history lesson, allegory, and warning, it opened Friday night with performances by a fine cast of talented actors from the community. Indeed, which of your neighbors will be crying, "Witch?" Auditions for Charlotte's Web will be held Tuesday, October 23 and Wednesday, October 24 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Baird Theater in South Orange. Callbacks will be Saturday, October 27 at 1 p.m. There are roles for all the enchanting characters of this children’s classic: Wilbur, the irresistible young pig who desperately wants to avoid the butcher; Fern, a girl who understands what animals say to each other; Templeton, the gluttonous rat who can occasionally be talked into a good deed; the Zuckerman family; the Arables; and, most of all, the extraordinary spider, Charlotte, who proves to be "a true friend and a good writer." Susan Holtz and Suz Stone of Maplewood can be seen in The Crucible, Arthur Miller's well-known Colonial “witch hunt,” when it plays at the Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts in Maplewood over two weekends in October. It is being presented by interACT Theatre Productions. The Crucible provides a harrowing glimpse of the living nightmare of the 17th-century Salem Witch Trials. Auditions for The Crucible will be held early next month for Arthur Miller's well-known colonial “witch hunt” to be presented by interACT Theatre Productions. interACT is a young Essex County theatre company that plans three main stage productions in its upcoming season. The community theater company will be performing songs from the big screen to Broadway at a benefit at the Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts.
Some of the most memorable show tunes from Broadway that have also made it on the big screen will be performed this weekend by a young Essex County theatre company at the Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts in Maplewood. interACT Sings! Big Screen to Broadway is a two-night celebration June 15-June 16 to raise money for the troupe’s upcoming season. The benefit will include a raffle and auction, as well as a reception for supporters of community theatre on each of the two evenings.
