Lululemon Sponsors Free Yoga for Teen Girls in Cranford

The class takes place Jan. 12 at 3p.m. in Cranford.

Alluem Yoga will host a special free yoga class for teenage women at 3p.m. on January 12th. The event is sponsored by Canada-based appareal and lifestyle chain Lululemon, which has a Union County shop in Summit. "This event is to encourage beauty for girls ages 13 to 17, inside and out," said Alluem instructor, Nicole Traum, who will lead the class. According to Health & Fitness Journal's 2012 worldwide survey of fitness trends yoga came in at 11 on a list of 20 trends, and has been steadily making a comback since 2010, according to the journal. Alluem is located a 347 Lincoln Avenue E. in Cranford.

Barre3 Brings 'Intense Workout' to Residents

Classes include a mixture of yoga and Pilates, combined with a dancer's workout.

One of the hottest fitness routines has come to Livingston. Barre3, which combines yoga and Pilates with ballet barre, has opened on South Livingston Avenue.  The 60-minute class is designed to "strengthen, lengthen and develop leaner muscles in the healthiest way possible," said owner Nora Yi. Barre3 was started in Portland, OR by famous fitness guru Sadie Lincoln.  According to their website, it’s a “unique 3-step sequence creates the strength of an athlete with the long, lean, graceful lines of a dancer.” The class involves yoga, Pilates and the essence of ballet barre, according to Yi.  Light weights are used and Yi says that “we use upbeat music to get the girls going.” “You just need to come here with water,” said Yi.  “We provide …

Last Saturday, I woke up to a stressful morning. Well in all truth, I went to bed annoyed from a stressful night, fueled by a stressful day. Nothing major occurred, just the usual, piled on top of the usual. Someone broke someone's favorite toy. Urgent paperwork was missing. The house was a wreck. Nothing was in order. The only thing I was able to find was a lot of attitude. I knew something had to give because when mommy is off balance, the whole family is off balance. Not able to get my bearings, I was ever so grateful when my girlfriend arrived early that morning so I could jump ship.
