Carjacker Caught After Chase, 1 Still Sought, Cops Say

Car’s owner identified one of the thieves after vehicle crashed in West Orange, according to police.

An East Orange man was arrested Monday night in connection with a Bloomfield carjacking that led to a multi-town police chase before ending in West Orange. Waquint L Crawford, 18, of East Orange, was charged with carjacking, eluding and resisting arrest. A 20-year-old female Bloomfield resident was carjacked at gunpoint shortly before 11 p.m. Monday on Ampere Parkway, according to a Bloomfield police report. While responding to the call, Bloomfield Police Officer Sang Yoon spotted the victim’s red 2011, four-door Honda traveling north on Ampere Parkway, police said. Police: Man Sought on Assault Warrant

Daniel Delosantos, 32, is wanted in connection with alleged aggravated assault.

West Orange police are searching for a 32-year-old West Orange man who allegedly assaulted a 24-year-old township resident on Ridge Avenue this past weekend, officials said.  The unidentified man told police Daniel Delosantos approached him before allegedly pushing him and punching him at about 5 p.m. on April 5 on Ridge Avenue between Watson and Whittlesey avenues.  According to police, when the man fell to the ground, Delosantos allegedly jumped on top of him and punched him a few times before fleeing.  The injured man was taken to University Hospital in Newark for treatment of a broken nose and several cuts and bruises, police said.  Delosantos is wanted on an aggravated assault warrant with $15,000 bail.

Police: Man Attacked with Glass Bottle Hospitalized

West Orange police arrested pair allegedly involved with an assault outside a bar on Valley Road.

A 25-year-old Orange man was hospitalized on Sunday, March 17 after allegedly being attacked with a glass bottle outside a Valley Road bar in West Orange, police said.  Patricio Paucar, 29, of Orange, and Luis Morocho, 32, of West Orange, were arrested after allegedly attacking the man on March 17, officials said.  According to the report, West Orange police saw three men pushing each other in the parking lot of Las Palmeras, located at 364 Valley Road, at about 1:50 p.m. The officer pulled into the parking lot after seeing the 25-year-old man's hand was bleeding. The man told police Paucar and Morocho attacked him outside the bar and claimed Paucar attacked him with a glass bottle. Officials transported the injured man, whom they did not …

Comments Made by Officers About Lecky Are 'Devastating,' Friend Says

Raymar Lecky's friends speak out against two West Orange officers while mother demands they be fired.

  About a dozen of Raymar Lecky's friends and family attended Tuesday evening's Township Council meeting in reaction to the West Orange cops who allegedly made light of Lecky's killing on Facebook. West Orange police officers, Sgt. William Mango and Officer Karen Roach, allegedly commented that Lecky was a gang member and a drug dealer, which violated the township's social media policy. Police Chase, Arrest Two Alleged Burglars

Nicholas Williams, 34, and Haneef Brook, 33, arrested after allegedly attempting to break into residences in neighborhood near Eagle Rock Avenue and Pleasant Valley Way.

West Orange police arrested two men who allegedly attempted to break into Shrump Place and Marmon Terrace residences on Jan. 15, officials said.  According to police, an Oak Terrace resident reported two suspicious men walking up her driveway and into her neighbor’s backyards.  Police arrived and saw one of the men, Nicholas Williams, 34, of West Orange, walking on a Marmon Terrace driveway.  During questioning, Williams told police he parked his silver BMW on Oak Terrace and was walking to a friend's house.  William's, however, couldn't provide a name or address of his friend. Man Arrested on Rt. 280 for Alleged Possession, Distribution of Drugs

Bijit Menon, 35, of Flanders, arrested Jan. 15 around 8 p.m.

A 35-year-old Flanders man was arrested Jan. 15 on Route 280 for alleged possession and distribution of heroin and crack cocaine, West Orange Police said. According to the report, Bijit Menon was stopped at around 8 p.m. while traveling west on the highway near Mount Pleasant Avenue.  Menon was asked to exit his Ford pickup and appeared to be under the influence of narcotics, officials said. Police searched Menon's truck and found what they believed to be heroin, bags of crack cocaine, a pipe with marijuana residue and a straw with powdery substance.  Menon was arrested and charged with possession and distribution of crack cocaine and heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled-dangerous substance in a motor …

A 17-year-old student was allegedly found with an airsoft handgun while at Mt. Carmel School in West Orange, police said. According to the incident report, school officials searched the teen's backpack when they overheard him offering another student marijuana last Thursday. The airsoft gun was found inside his backpack wrapped in a towel, police said. The teen was taken into custody. Three men were allegedly the victims of an aggravated assault on Main Street, police said. The group was walking down Main Street toward Park Avenue last Sunday morning around 4 a.m. when a light blue car with four men inside pulled up and began assaulting them, authorities said. According to the police report, three men exited the car carrying metal objects. One of the men approached the victims and said, "What did you say?" The victim then replied, "What?" and was struck in the head with an unknown object, police said. He suffered a four-inch gash to the head and was taken to St. Barnabas Medical Center. Police Blotter: Burglaries to Homes, Church

A foreclosed home on Lawrence Avenue was allegedly burglarized last Monday, police said. According to the incident report, metal pipes from the walls and ceilings worth about $1,000 were taken. Prescription pills were allegedly taken from Green Hill Nursing Home last Monday, police said. Officials with the nursing home told police 18 tablets of Oxycodone were missing from the facility. According to the incident report, the facility showed no signs of forced entry. Police suspect an employee who signed for the medication may have taken the medicine. A home on Westwood Drive was allegedly burglarized last Tuesday, authorities said. Jewelry worth almost $2,000 was taken from the home, police said, adding that the house appeared to be in order…
