The president of the West Orange Township Council Tuesday night assured the mother of a slain 22-year-old West Orange man "an example would be set" after two West Orange police officers allegedly discussed the death on Facebook, a violation of township social media policy. Council President Victor Cirilo told Raymar Lecky's mother Jean, "I am very confident we will deal with it in the right way," after Lecky told council members to deal seriously with the Facebook comments allegedly made by West Orange Sgt. William Mango and Officer Karen Roach and demanded the officers be fired, according to a NJ.com report. West Orange Council President Victor Cirilo is expected to answer charges on Wednesday, Feb. 6 stemming from a Nov. 9, 2012 DWI arrest in Verona, Verona court officials said. The trial has been postponed several times at Cirilo’s request, most recently on Jan. 16, when Cirilo changed lawyers and requested more time to consult with his new lawyer and seek expert testimony from his personal doctor. On Jan. 16, an exasperated Judge John A. Paparazzo appeared annoyed in Verona Municipal Court when Cirilo’s attorney, Roy Breslow of Verona, made the request for an additional postponement, but agreed to delay the trial until Wednesday. West Orange Council President Victor Cirilo’s twice-postponed trial on drunken driving charges is scheduled to take place Wednesday, Jan. 16 at 5 p.m. in Verona, court officials said Tuesday morning. Cirilo is charged with driving while intoxicated following a Nov. 9, 2012 police stop after he made a turn from Bloomfield Avenue onto Mount Prospect Avenue (Route 23) just after midnight, Verona Police Chief Douglas Huber said at the time. On Jan. 2, Verona Municipal Court Administrator Jean DePoe said that postponement was granted at Cirilo’s lawyer’s request. A West Orange council member was arrested in Verona and charged with drunken driving and two other charges, Verona Police Chief Douglas Huber said Tuesday morning. Police stopped council president Victor Cirilo’s car shortly after midnight Friday, Nov. 9, after he made a turn from Bloomfield Avenue onto Mount Prospect Avenue (Route 23), Nov. 9, Huber said.
