Police: Woman Robbed of Cell Phone on Valley Road

Man allegedly approaches mother with young daughter, grabs iPhone and after struggle flees towards Orange.

Police are searching for a man who allegedly mugged a West Orange woman and her young daughter on Valley Road Tuesday, officials said.  According to police, the 35-year-old woman was on the corner of Valley Road and Cary Street, when she took out her iPhone to call her husband at about 5 p.m. While she spoke on the phone, a man approached her from behind and grabbed her cell phone, she told police. The woman wrestled with the man for control of the phone, but became scared for her daughter’s safety as well as her own and she let go of the phone, police said.  The alleged mugger took off down Cary Street towards the city of Orange, police said.

Police: Suspicious Man at Bus Stop for Five Days

Officials investigating reported enticement of an 11-year-old girl at the corner of Kinsley Street and Riggs Place.

West Orange police are investigating a suspicious man who has been waiting at a bus stop and reportedly attempting to entice an 11-year-old girl on the corner of Kinsley Street and Riggs Place in the township for five days. According to police, the man has been standing on Valley Road gesturing for the middle school student to come over to him when she was let off the bus. He reportedly would tell the girl he has something to show her, police said.  Police described the Hispanic man as approximately 5-feet-6 tall, 30 to 40 years old with curly hair.   According to the middle school, the parents of the student were contacted and additional officers have been posted in the area. Employee Robbed at Gunpoint on Valley Road

Police are searching for two men involved in armed robbery at K & R Bread Distibutors in West Orange.

West Orange police are investigating a Friday afternoon-armed robbery at a Valley Road business.  In the Feb. 15 incident, an employee of K & R Distributors, located at 438-440 Valley Road, said two men wearing all black clothes and black ski masks approached him as he was returning a bread truck to the back of the building after completing a delivery around 3:20 p.m. One of the men then allegedly stuck what is believed to be a handgun against the employee’s back and stole the employee’s wallet, valued at $450, and $600 in cash from the employee’s pockets. The men then fled onto Cary Street towards Orange, police said.
