Meteorologists are predicting this Nor’easter will bring more than a foot of snow and heavy winds to West Orange and the rest of Essex County through Saturday afternoon. Below Patch is compiling a list of closures, delays and things you should know throughout town. Please add any information you have in the comments. The township encourages residents to stay off the roads as much as possible so the roads can be cleared. But remember it's the weekend! Enjoy the snowy Saturday! Winter Storm Nemo is heading to our area. West Orange should start to feel the effects as early as Friday afternoon, and some weather models are predicting as much as a foot in our area. The snow will begin Friday during the day, but heavier, blizzard-like conditions are expected Friday night into Saturday. Locals are preparing...are you? A South Orange resident reports that Trader Joe's in Millburn was packed on Thursday morning. Home Depot in Vauxhall was doing a brisk business in snow shovels, blowers and salt, but were well stocked with all snow-related gear and equipment as of Thursday afternoon. Stormy weather leads to fender-benders throughout county.
Updated 4: 30 p.m. During this December storm, accidents and weather conditions are closing roads throughout Essex County. In Livingston, there was a four-car accident reported around 3:30 p.m. northbound on Eisenhower Parkway causing lane closures near the Roseland border, police said. Also reported, on East Hobart Gap Road a car hit a tree near Meadowbrook Road in Livingston. In South Orange, police have closed the "S" curves on South Orange Avenue through the South Mountain Reservation that stretching from South Orange into Millburn at about 3:45 p.m. Bloomfield Avenue is reportedly very congested Trains and buses are cross-honoring today. As the area braces for a potential three-to-five inches of tardy snow (not quite a White Christmas, but close, right?), NJ Transit announced that it would be cross-honoring of tickets starting at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Cross-honoring will remain in effect until the end of the service day Thursday, Dec. 27, enabling customers to use their ticket or pass on an alternate travel mode—rail, bus or light rail. For example, customers who normally take the bus from Rutherford to the Port Authority Bus Terminal may use their bus pass on the train from Rutherford to New York Penn Station. My roads were done by 6 am . Not a problem where I live. Try driving through other towns and see how they compare to West Orange. I can always tell when I leave wo. Our roads are always better. Always have been   more ›
