Winter Storm Watch 2013

All you need to know about the winter storm below but don't forget to enjoy the snowy Saturday and upload your photos throughout the storm!

Meteorologists are predicting this Nor’easter will bring more than a foot of snow and heavy winds to West Orange and the rest of Essex County through Saturday afternoon.  Below Patch is compiling a list of closures, delays and things you should know throughout town. Please add any information you have in the comments.  The township encourages residents to stay off the roads as much as possible so the roads can be cleared.  But remember it's the weekend! Essex County Declares State of Emergency, PSE&G Poised to Respond

No significant power outages have been reported as of noon Friday, but storm expected to last into early morning Saturday.

No significant power outages have been reported in Essex County a few hours into Friday's Winter Storm, but PSE&G is ready to respond to what could be widespread outages throughout its service area, the utility said in advance of the Nor'easter. Contractors, including tree crews, are poised and ready and additional supplies, such as poles, transformer and other equipment, are on hand, PSE&G said. The Nor’easter could dump more than a foot of snow and bring heavy winds to Essex County, where widespread, long-term outages caused by Superstorm Sandy are still fresh on many residents’ minds. Essex County has declared a state of emergency, according to the county’s Office of Emergency Management. No parking will be allowed on country roads …

Winter Storm Nemo is headed our way!

Winter Storm Nemo is heading to our area. West Orange should start to feel the effects as early as Friday afternoon, and some weather models are predicting as much as a foot in our area. The snow will begin Friday during the day, but heavier, blizzard-like conditions are expected Friday night into Saturday. Locals are preparing...are you? A South Orange resident reports that Trader Joe's in Millburn was packed on Thursday morning. Home Depot in Vauxhall was doing a brisk business in snow shovels, blowers and salt, but were well stocked with all snow-related gear and equipment as of Thursday afternoon.
