Parisi Joins Mayors Nationwide to Urge Gun Control

More than 750 mayors from around the country, including 67 from New Jersey, are urging President Obama for stronger gun control in the wake of the Newtown, Conn. school shooting.

Following the tragedy that occurred last week when a 20-year-old man shot and killed 26 people, including 20 children, at a school in Newtown, Conn., his mother and himself, mayors from all over the country have signed a letter urging President Barack Obama and Congress to pass stricter gun control legislation.  West Orange Mayor Robert D. Parisi was one of the 750 mayors nationwide to sign the letter.  “None of us want guns in our community, certainly illegal guns,” said Parisi. “If you look back over the last year or two, especially after last week, guns have become a negative part of our society.” Referring to themselves as the Mayors Against Illegal Guns , the bipartisan coalition is trying to urge the President to “put forward an …

The REAL problem is that a mother who knew her son had Asperger's syndrome had all those gun accessible to this kid. She also brought him to a range to learn how to fire a weapon. What was she thinking??? Why weren't all those guns locked up away from a kid with a mental illness?? Doesn't make sense. She quits her job to stay home and take care of him but gives him access to all those weapons??? …   more ›
