Blizzard Closes West Orange Library

The West Orange Public library will close at 1 p.m. on Friday and stay closed Saturday according to township officials.

Local Library Will Host Bestselling Tween Authors

David Lubar and Wendy Mass will speak at the South Orange library on Sunday, Feb. 10, at 2 p.m.

Acclaimed authors for young readers, David Lubar and Wendy Mass, will discuss their books and their love of reading on Sunday, Feb. 10th, at 2 p.m. at the South Orange Public Library.  The event will be open to the entire family and will be sponsored by the Friends of the South Orange Public Library and Sparkhouse. David Lubar is an author of numerous books for teens.  He is also an electronic game programmer, who programmed Super Breakout for the Nintendo Game Boy, and Frogger for both the SNES and Game Boy.  As a game designer, he designed the game Frogger2: Swampy’s Revenge for the Nintendo Game Boy Color.  His works include the novel, ” Dunk”, a favorite check out at the library.  It is about a young man at the Jersey shore, where …

Give Blood at the Livingston Library Today

The Livingston Public Library will be holding a blood drive on Monday.

The Livingston Public Library, 10 Robert Harp Drive, is sponsoring a blood drive today in conjunction with The Blood Center of New Jersey from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Program Room.  New Jersey is facing continuing shortages of blood donations and must import blood regularly from other states.  Donations are needed every day to meet the needs of New Jersey hospitals. Blood center officials note that each unit of blood donated is broken down into several components including platelets, plasma, and red cells so one donation can save up to three lives. The donation process is safe and simple.  Donors are first asked medical history questions and given a mini-health check, including pulse, blood pressure, and iron level.  The actual donation…
