How Long is Your Commute?

Average commute for Millburn residents is 31 minutes, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

West Orange is a commuter township but do find yourself in a car or train a little too long during the morning and afternoon commute? According to the WNYC Commuter Map above, West Orange residents spend an average of 31 minutes a day getting into the city during the workweek. That is just about six minutes more than the national average of 25.4 minutes, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.  New Jersey only trails New York in mega commuters, which as 16.2 percent, and is well above the national average of 8.1. percent. Sleet, Snow Could Cause Slippery Monday Commute

A winter weather advisory for West Orange and the rest of Essex could cause hazardous travel on Monday, National Weather Service says.

The National Weather Service is saying the current sleet and snow could cause a hazardous commute on Monday afternoon.  A winter weather advisory is in effect for Western Essex on Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Snow and sleet is predicted during the day Monday with an accumulations of up to an inch. In the afternoon, the weather precipitation will change to freezing rain and sleet during rush hour. Other areas in weather advisory include eastern and western Passaic county, eastern and western Bergen county and eastern and western Essex county.

Wintry Mix Could Make Wednesday Morning Commute a Headache

A winter weather advisory for West Orange and the rest of Western Essex early Wednesday to late afternoon could cause hazardous travel, National Weather Service says.

Sleet and snow could cause a hazardous morning commute through the afternoon on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.  A winter weather advisory is in effect for Western Essex for Wednesday from 12 a.m. to 4 p.m. Snow and sleet are predicted to start late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning with accumulations up to an inch. Other areas in weather advisory:  Eastern Passaic, NJ; Western Bergen, NJ;  Eastern Bergen, NJ and Western Union, NJ.
