Second Burglary of a Bar This Week
Franklin Tavern in West Orange opens Thursday to find door pried open, money missing.
A second bar in the downtown area was burglarized this week during the early morning hours. Franklin Tavern, 97-99 Franklin St., had its front door pried open and $100 taken from a cash register on Thursday. The burglary happened sometime between 2 a.m. when the bar closed and when it opened around 11 a.m. The bar was not ransacked, and there was no surveillance footage taken of the burglary, said West Orange police Sgt. Joe Spero. The burglary is still under investigation. This marks the second time this week a bar was burglarized. Los Tapatios, 10 Main St., had $1,850 taken from two cash registers on Sunday.
