Editor's Notebook: Patch Celebrates its 100th Site Launch
Morristown site puts hyper-local news organization into new realm
It takes me about 50 seconds to count to 100. It took Patch almost two years. But, we made it. Patch was founded in New York City February 2008 and its first sites launched simultaneously in Maplewood, South Orange and Millburn-Short Hills in February 2009. Now, with the launch of Morristown at site 100, Patch enters the realm of a much-larger news organization. One whose mobile newsroom competes with major metro dailies throughout the nation. When I began the West Orange, New Jersey, beat just more than a month ago, the goal was to bring "new media," multimedia and a 24/7 news source to the area. We've succeeded. And will continue to do so. It's not all about New Jersey, though, but the eight other states that Patch has planted its seeds…
