West Orange Law Firm Makes Christmas Merrier

Christmas was bit merrier for more than 175 local families thanks to a West Orange law firm and a statewide legal association.

On Dec. 21, more than 75 volunteers from the Interfaith Food Pantry of the Orange’s gathered at Orange’s Church of the Epiphany to provide a ham and all the holiday trimmings to the families courtesy of West Orange-based Bendit Weinstock, a local law firm and the New Jersey Association for Justice in Trenton.

The annual event, which helped the group serve the largest number of families ever, also provided items collected by the Congregation Beth El preschool – including gently-used clothing, coats, books, toys and household items.

The Interfaith Food Pantry of the Oranges is an organization with volunteers from Congregation Beth El and Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel in South Orange, Christ Church and Temple B’nai Jeshurun in Short Hills, and the Episcopal Church in Orange.

Volunteers work weekly to provide supplemental food to families in need in the Orange and East Orange communities. 

On a typical week, the pantry services 60 families at the Church of the Epiphany, doubling last year’s families.

The pantry does not qualify for state or federal funding and must make do with donations from the community.
