• There will be a Jamaican independence celebration at Hat City Kitchen, 459 Valley St., in Orange starting at 6 p.m. The celebration will be a Reggae festival featuring the band Widdayah, and an array of Caribbean fare will be served. There is a fee of $5. 


• The West Orange Township Council's special workshop to discuss the budget that had been originally scheduled for today was moved to Aug. 13 at 5 p.m. in town hall, 66 Main St. The council may also adopt the budget during that meeting. 


• The Downtown Alliance will meet at 6:30 p.m. in town hall, 66 Main St. 

• "Hope Springs," featuring Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones, opens today in theaters. More information about the film and a theatrical trailer can be .

• The Public Relations Commission will meet at 6 p.m. in town hall, 66 Main St.


• The weekly farmers market will be set up from noon to 6 p.m. in the parking lot of town hall, 66 Main St. 

• The Essex County SummerMusic Concert Series continues with a free, outdoor concert by the Garden State Concert Band starting at 7 p.m. at . 

And on Tuesday, Aug. 14, the concert series will feature The 70's Project at 7 p.m. at  in West Orange. This concert was originally scheduled for Aug. 1. 


• A Garage sale will be held at  from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

According to the posting listed on the West Orange Patch, there will be tons and tons of kids clothes, toys, household items, dorm items, and lots of new items. The kids will be selling cold water. There will also be a large office desk, Sony projection television, baby items, and much more.
