West Orange Cobras Win Youth Summer League

The WO Cobras defeat Millburn in the championship game.

 

A West Orange youth baseball team recently defeated Millburn to win first place in a local summer league and bring home the title. 

The West Orange Cobras 9U Baseball Team won the Summer Suburban regular season and playoff championships this month. The local team defeated Millburn 6-4.

The regular season title came down to the last game of the season, with both teams sharing a record of 11-2. Millburn took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but West Orange battled back scoring runs in the first, second, third and fifth innings to win 6-4.

West Orange won through a team effort, with many players contributing. J.J. Scavalla had two hits and scored two runs. Nico Rosamilia had three hits, two RBIs, and scored a run. Sanjay Kasturi, Eitan Kanyan, and Mike Bretz drove in runs. Giovanni Amato scored a run and Jordan Quiles made a great catch to end the game. Angelo Deer pitched three strong innings striking out four to get the win.

The Cobras beat Elizabeth and Livingston in the playoffs to get to the championship game.
