Golda Och Academy Senior Gloria Rothenberg scored her 2,000th point Monday night in GOA’s 56-19 victory over Christ the King.
This achievement marks the first time in GOA’s history a player has reached this milestone.
Rothenberg completed a four-point play in the third quarter to reach her 2,000th point. She totaled 37 points, 14 rebounds, 12 steals, and four assists.
“It’s a major achievement, and it couldn’t have happened to a nicer person,” said GOA Athletic Director Janet Herman. “She’s been averaging 500 points a season for the past three years! She worked very hard to improve her skills. You put in your time, and you get the results.”
It was the fifth game in a row where she recorded at least a triple-double. She also had a quadruple-double during that time. For the season, she's averaging 35.6 points, 14.9 rebounds, 11.4 steals and 5.8 assists per game.
“It was a special moment, and I was happy to share it with everyone,” Rothenberg said. “I thank my teammates, coach, and parents for helping me reach this milestone. I also appreciate the support from the school, the teachers, and the administration.”
GOA coach Josh Breitman said, “Gloria is the ultimate team player in every sense of the word. This is an amazing accomplishment for Gloria and for all of her past and current teammates. She is a once-ina-lifetime player. I could not be more proud of her for all of her accomplishments.”
Rothenberg plans to attend Vanderbilt University next fall.
