West Orange High School will open its doors for Curriculum Night on Thursday, November 21 for prospective parents within and outside of the West Orange community. Tours will begin at 6 p.m. in the auditorium and will be led by the Mountaineer Mentors, a select group of student volunteers, who provide leadership and service to the West Orange High School community.
“This evening is scheduled early in the school year so that families are well informed about all that West Orange High School has to offer as they make decisions about choosing the right high school for your son or daughter,” said Assistant Principal of Curriculum, Operations & Activities, Dr. Kimberly Mancarella. “During April, we will also host an evening for incoming parents and students where our co-curricular programs and athletic teams are showcased.”
Principal Hayden Moore will also be addressing parents at 7 p.m. in the auditorium, highlighting West Orange High School’s innovative programs and remarkable accomplishments. Instructional Supervisors and Program Coordinators will present the high school’s challenging and comprehensive academic offerings.
West Orange High School offers various programs to students including an Air Force Jr. ROTC; 23 Advanced Placement courses, 36 honors level courses; 24 athletic teams; 63 co-curricular activities; 12 National Honor Societies; among others.
West Orange High School has been recognized by both Newsweek Magazine and the Washington Post as one of ‘America’s Top Public High Schools’ during the past four years.

“Every event and every activity at West Orange High School is an open house to us,” said Principal Hayden Moore. “The Mountaineer Partnership in Pride campaign envelops all of our campus activities and the community is always encouraged to attend and participate.”
West Orange High School is competitive with its peers in educational accolades with a high level of staff earning Master Degrees as well as Doctorates. West Orange High School is proud to be home to multiple Essex County Educator of the Year Award recipients and an Education Medal of Honor Recipient. Campus facilities include new science laboratories, a music wing, new art studios, a distance learning center and a CISCO certified training laboratory all complimented by a state of the art athletic complex.
