West Orange Students, Staff Walk to School

International Walk to School Day is a global event that involves communities from more than 40 countries walking to school on the same day.

About 150 students from Pleasantdale participated in International Walk to School Day last week along with parents, teachers, and PTA members.

Dr. Joanne Pollara said she believes that it is important for teachers and parents to lead by example so, this year she decided to walk to school from her home in Caldwell.

Teachers, Mrs. Pacifico, Mr. and Mrs. Carsillo also joined the fun.  During their adventure, they noticed the splendor of the fall leaves, talked, laughed and wondered.  They walked for 4 miles and when they got close to Pleasantdale, they joined Pleasantdale students for the last few blocks.

Special activities associated with the walk included a Pep Rally in front of the school  and Pleasantdale parents Mr. and Mrs. Dannemiller leading. The Pleasantdale PTA gave away water, snacks, and “I Walked to School Day” Stickers.
