West Orange School Board Prepares for Fall

For 2013-14, students will see security enhancements and a rise in the price of school lunches.

The West Orange Board of Education focused on the new school year at its Monday at Liberty Middle School, The Alternative Press reported.

The school board tabled expected votes on contracts for Assistant Superintendent Donna Rando and Board Secretary Mark Kenney because members had not had an opportunity to discuss them, however they did approve Kirk Roberts to replace recently retired Marty Kale as the district's multimedia coordinator, the article said.

The board announced that from now on, all BOE meetings will be televised on channels 36/45, and that as of September, school lunch prices are expected to rise five cents for elementary, middle and high school students. Interim Superintendent James O'Neill noted that 19 teachers were transferred to new assignments. He also said that in preparation for the new school year, the district was putting in security enhancements at all West Orange Schools.
