West Orange High School Principal Hayden Moore has joined social media to connect closely with students, parents and community members in West Orange.

“Mr. Moore,” as referred to by his students, knows the names of practically all 2,000+ students at the high school but their Twitter handles have been a foreign entity -- until now.

He's getting in on the conversation by setting up a Twitter account (@MrMooreWO) and is encouraging all students, parents, faculty and community members to follow him and engage in 140-character conversations.

“Any topic is fair game," said Moore. “As principal, my priority is the education, safety and well-being of our students. Twitter is a two-way street. Not only is it a quick and effective way for me to reach a large audience, it also provides a gateway for students and parents to reach out to me at any point in time."

Moore plans to include updates about the high school, teachers, students, sports teams and various initiatives happening on campus. He also plans to take his Twitter audience "behind the scenes” with pictures from the principal’s point of view.
