Back to School Night at West Orange High

West Orange High School will hold the its annual Back To School Night on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. beginning with general remarks and an evening overview in the auditorium on Pleasant Valley Way.

The West Orange High School PTA will be present to sign up parent and teacher members, and West Orange High School Mountaineer Mentors will be available and stationed throughout the building in their signature Mountaineer polo shirts, to provide support and direction during the evening.

Moore added, “Back To School Night is an evening focused on parent involvement in their student’s academic success at West Orange High School,” said Principal Hayden Moore. “Studies show that parents/guardians who know their child’s teachers and who keep abreast of homework and school activities, who participate in their child’s school, influence the academic and social success of that child. The staff, teachers and administration at West Orange High School would like to foster that valuable relationship for our parents and Back To School Night is one of the activities hosted during the academic year to do that."

While students follow the new Rotating Drop Schedule at the High School, on Back To School Night parents will follow a ten-minute, eight period, class schedule so they may meet each teacher in their student’s schedule, and receive a briefing on the content and expectations in each subject.

‘The evening will move quickly,” explained Moore, ‘so there won’t be time for individual discussion with teachers about ones own child but teachers and guidance staff are available to schedule one-on-one meetings. Just contact the guidance office at 973-6695301 x31600 to make an appointment.”

Parents and guardians will also have the opportunity to view the new cafeteria configurations and the ‘quiet zone’ outdoor study and lunch area sponsored by the WOHS PTA.

The teachers and administration of West Orange High School encourage all parents and guardians to attend this special evening. Your student’s class schedule form was sent home with your student last week. Have your student fill out his or her schedule for you to follow. 

Or, you may log on to your account on Parent Portal to print out a schedule. If neither of these options are available to you, visit the High School Guidance office at the Conforti Avenue entrance at least 30 minutes prior to the event to be provided with your child’s schedule.
