Professional baseball player Daniel Merklinger visited Gregory Elementary School's After School program this week organized by the

Merklinger wrote holiday letters with the kids to send to service men and women for the holidays.

The students were also able to ask Merklinger questions about his baseball career. Anywhere from "What is your favorite football team?" to "At what age did you decide to become a professional baseball player?"

Merklinger is part of Athletes for Hope, a nonprofit that connects professional athletes with charitable causes.
