West Orange has collected more than $8,000 in municipal court debt in response to new guidelines issued by the State of New Jersey Administrative Office of the Courts, Mayor Robert Parisi announced.
Between December 2102 and September 2013, 614 cases were sent to collection agency TaxServ Capital Services NJ, LLC to locate individuals who owed money to the township.
With the help of the agency, West Orange has collected $8,258 in delinquent fines to date.
“It is critical to collect all outstanding obligations that are due to the Township and this program is doing exactly what we expected it to do – bring in court fees and fines that should have been paid years ago. We are certainly pleased with the results so far,” said Parisi.
Delinquent obligations being pursued through the collection program include disposed matters with fines due for Motor Vehicle Violations, Township Ordinance Violations and Disorderly Persons Offenses/Petty Disorderly Person Offenses.
Payment of all delinquent Township municipal court obligations should be made by mail or in person to the Municipal Court of the Township of West Orange. To make a payment by mail, send payment by certified check or money order to:
