Vince Papale Speaker At Sports Awards Breakfast and More This Weekend

On Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Katz Community Center, the Recreation Department will host the annual Rec Achievement Awards.  

This year’s honorees include Andrew Mazurek of the West Orange PAL, Steve Quirk of Mountain Top and Township Architect Gerry Huegel. 

On Sunday at 10 a.m. at the West Orange High School cafeteria is the annual Sports Awards Breakfast sponsored by Unico. 

This year’s guest speaker is Vince Papale, the former Philadelphia Eagles’ player whose inspirational story was told in the movie “Invincible” starring Mark Wahlberg.  This annual event always proves to be a great morning and all proceeds support local scholarships. 

Following the Sports Breakfast on Sunday, at 4 p.m. there is the annual West Orange St Patrick’s Day Parade Investiture at The Mayfair Farms.

This year, the parade is honoring the town's former mayor, John F. McKeon as Grand Marshall and longtime West Orange fireman Michael Merwin as Deputy Grand Marshall.
