The West Orange community welcomed a new business in town on Friday: the Atlantic Spine Center.

Mayor Robert Parisi joined Dr. Kaixuan Liu, founding principal of the spine center, at 475 Prospect Ave., for a ribbon cutting yesterday. The spine centered opened its main office in town last month, adding to its satellite offices in Edison and Union.

Managing Director Nick Bufano said the new location fit for the spine center because it has many customers from West Orange and the surrounding area, and because of its proximity to St. Barnabas Medical Center.

The new spine center provides both minimally invasive to complex spine surgeries, said Bufano. The medical staff includes nine doctors, all Ivy League trained. In addition, the office specializes in endoscopic spinal surgery, an innovative surgery with a short recovery time.

“It is a great approach to help people who are dealing with chronic and acute back pain,” said Bufano.
