Flu Clinic Set for Wednesday

The West Orange Health Department will host a flu and pneumonia clinic

In preparation for the cold weather, the West Orange Health Department is holding a flu and pneumonia clinic on Wednesday.

The clinic will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Community Room of the John P. Renna, Jr. House at 10 Gaston Street. 

According to the township, West Orange residents 60 and over and adults 18 and over with a chronic illness are a priority to receive the flu vaccine. Adults 18 and older are also eligible for the flu vaccine.

Residents 65 years and older must bring their Medicare cards and supplemental medical insurance cards. Residents with traditional Medicare have no cost. Residents with a Medicare HMO or co-pay will pay a $25 fee. 

The Health Department will provide a receipt to be submitted to the insurance carrier. All other residents are required to pay a low cost fee of $25.00 for the flu vaccination and $45 for the pneumonia vaccination.

Flu and pneumonia shots will also be available on September 30th through October 4th and October 7th through October 11th from 2 PM- 3:30 PM and October 2nd and October 9th from 2 PM - 6:30 PM at the West Orange Health Center, located at 10 Gaston Street, for residents 18 and over (while supplies last).

The recommended schedule for the pneumonia vaccination is one dose for those 65 and older.  A second dose may be required five to ten years after initial dose if your health has weakened.

Nurses are available to make home visits to provide these vaccines to those residents requiring this service.  To schedule a vaccination in your home, please call 973-325-4131.
