West Orange Man Fatally Shot in Newark

22-year-old killed, another man wounded early Monday morning.

A 22-year-old West Orange man was fatally shot early Monday morning, according to Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Police Director Samuel A. DeMaio.

Raymar Lecky, 22, was shot at approximately 3 a.m., near Sanford and Lanark Avenues in Newark, according to a statement released by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.

Lecky was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 3:18 am., according to the statement.

A 26-year-old male, whose identity has not been released, was also shot but survived and is hospitalized in stable condition, according to the statement.

The Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating this murder.
