Three More Armed Robberies Hit West Orange

One of the most recent incidents police report was a 24-year-old who was robbed of more than $1,500 in valuables early Sunday on Washington Street.

West Orange police are investigating three more armed robberies that have hit the township over the last few days, authorities released Monday.

One of the most recent incidents, Lt. Robert Williams said, was a 24-year-old who was robbed of more than $1,500 in valuables early Sunday on Washington Street. 

According to the report, a 24-year-old Orange man, got of an NJ Transit bus at the corner of Lakeside and Watchung avenues just after 12 a.m.

As he turned off Washington Street onto Wachung Avenue, the Orange man told police, an older white Nissan with tinted with and four men inside was following him. The car then passed him and pulled a U-turn.

The man told police, he continued on Waching Avenue when he heard the click of a gun and felt it placed at the back of his head.

The armed robber demanded him to "give up what he had," the report stated. He gave the robber his iPhone, valued at $600, a $1,000 gold ring, his wallet and $60 in cash. 

Police described the robber as a young black man with dreadlocks.

Also over the weekend, a 15-year-old was robbed at gunpoint at the ATM at Valley National Bank, 637 Eagle Rock Way on Friday night around 10:30, police said. 

The teenager told police on Saturday, as he was walking up to the ATM, a gray SUV pulled through the driveway and two masked men got out with a gun. 

The masked pair demanded the teenager to empty his pockets, the report stated. The SUV then took off east down Eagle Rock Avenue.

Additionally, Williams said, a teenage girl and 20-year-old man, both of West Orange were robbed at gunpoint by two men Thursday evening on South Valley Road.

The two men robbed the couple of an iPhone, keys and ice cream and took off down Tremont Avenue in the City of Orange.
