Reward Increased in West Orange Homicide

The Essex County Sheriff's Office is offering up to $25,000 for information into those responsible for Brendan Tevlin's death.

The Essex County Sheriff's Office has increased the reward in the shooting death of a Livingston teen.

The Sheriff's Office is now offering up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest of those responsible for killing Brendan Tevlin, 19, last week in West Orange.

"We thank our benefactors who wish to remain anonymous for their generosity and leadership in making these funds available to us as the law enforcement community works to bring the person or persons responsible for this heinous crime before the bar of justice," Sheriff Armando Fontoura said.

Tevlin was shot multiple times late last Wednesday night in the area of Northfield Avenue and Walker Road in West Orange. The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has said the shooting was a targeted attack, but have not released a motive for the incident.

The prosecutor's office released on Saturday photos from a nearby surveillance camera of two men who may have witnessed the shooting.

A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Saint Philomena's Church in Livingston. Visitation hours were Monday at Seton Hall Prep's auditorium.

Area children rallied this weekend to support the Tevlin family by selling lemonade, iced tea, lollipops and pretzels donated by Philly Pretzels, according to The Alternative Press. The children from Livingston, West Orange and Maplewood raised more than $1,000 to help the Seton Hall Prep grad's family, TAP reported.

Anyone with information on Tevlin's death can contact the prosecutor's office at 877-847-7432 1877.
