Trio Wanted in Armed Robbery of West Orange Gas Station

Masked men in a stolen minivan robbed a Main Street gas station attendant at gunpoint early Wednesday morning, police said.

West Orange Police are searching for three people who allegedly robbed a gas station on Main Street early Wednesday morning at gunpoint, making off with $600, authorities said.

The incident occurred at 1:15 a.m. when a Dodge minivan pulled into the BP at 83 Main St. and one of the passengers pulled a gun on the station attendant, said Jessica Glicker a spokeswoman for the township.

According to the report, a masked man with a silver gun approached the attendant and robbed him of $600 while a second masked man got out of the van. The two men, wearing white colored bandanas around their faces, then quickly got back in the van and the trio sped off.

The van was later found in Orange and identified as previously stolen, Glicker said.

Police described the armed robber as a black man wearing blue jeans, a black sweat shirt and black baseball hat. The second robber was described as a black man wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and dark colored pants.

There was no description for the third person, who the gas station attendant told police was driving.

This is the second armed robbery reported by West Orange Police this week. No further information on the first armed robbery has become available, where two youths and one adult are accused of a robbery in Colgate Park Tuesday afternoon.

The two incidents mark the 14th and 15th armed robberies in West Orange this year.

Anyone with information is asked to call the West Orange police detective bureau at 973-325-4020. The incident is still under investigation.
