Police Blotter: Man Throws Bowling Ball at Gas Station, Fake Gun Found at School

A 17-year-old student was allegedly found with an airsoft handgun while at Mt. Carmel School in West Orange, police said. According to the incident report, school officials searched the teen's backpack when they overheard him offering another student marijuana last Thursday. The airsoft gun was found inside his backpack wrapped in a towel, police said. The teen was taken into custody.

Police arrested a man for allegedly smashing a car's rear window on Columbia Street in West Orange shortly after midnight Sunday. Irving Erazo was charged with criminal mischief and released on his own recognizance. According to the incident report, a Columbia Street resident called the police to complain about a loud group fighting on her street. She then noticed the rear window of her 2003 Nissan had been broken, police said. Police found Erazo in the area with a bloody hand after witnesses told police who had smashed the window.

A man was arrested Sunday night after allegedly crashing into several gas pumps at the BP on Main Street, police said. Aaron Price was driving in the BP lot when he crashed into a gas pump, the ice box, two other gas pumps and then hit a wooden bench, witnesses told police. After he hit the bench, police said, he threw a bowling ball at the window of the attendant's booth, causing damage. According to the report, damages exceed $5,000. Police arrested Price  as he was traveling on Main Street and said he appeared "overly anxious" and was making incoherent statements. His 1997 Mitsubishi was towed due to the damages and Price was charged with criminal mischief, police said.

Two garbage cans were allegedly lit on fire last week on Riggs Place and Dean Street, police said. According to the incident report, a resident on Riggs Place told police her garbage can was engulfed in flames. The fire was quickly extinguished by the fire department. Another trash can on Dean Street and Valley Road was also extinguished, fire officials said.

A car was allegedly stolen while parked on Franklin Avenue in West Orange last Thursday. The 2003 Nissan was left unlocked, police said.

A laptop was allegedly stolen at the West Orange Public Library, police said. A woman told police her laptop was taken in the women's bathroom last week and worth roughly $1,500.
