Pair Charged in Slaying of West Orange Grandmother

A West Orange woman, Carline Inginac, was arrested Thursday while a Newark man, Rakeem Scott, 18, still remains at-large, prosecutor said.

A man and woman were charged Thursday with the stabbing death of a 57-year-old grandmother during a robbery at her West Orange home earlier this month, according to authorities.

Carline Inginac, 21, of West Orange, was arrested early Thursday morning after a two-week investigation by the Essex County Major Crimes Task Force and the West Orange Police Department, Essex County Prosecutor's Office said in a release.

Rakeem Scott, 18 of Newark, still remains at-large. 

According to the release, Yuen was caring for her 20-month-old granddaughter at the time of the incident.

The two were charged with murder, felony murder, robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and endangering the welfare of a child, according to Assistant Prosecutor Ralph E. Amirata.

Bail was set at $500,000 for Inginac and $750,000 for Scott.

Acting Prosecutor Murray credited the West Orange detectives as well as the detectives and assistant prosecutors from her Major Crimes Task Force for their assistance. Additionally, she credited Roseland Police Department.

The investigation is continuing, according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly. Anyone with information is asked to contact Task Force detectives at 877-847-7432 or 973-621-4586.
