Man Attempts to Rob Woman on Main Street

Woman says man approached her at bank ATM.

A man allegedly attempted to rob a woman with a note at a Main Street ATM on Feb. 1, West Orange police reported. 

According to police, the woman was withdrawing money from an ATM at the Bank of America branch at 59 Main St. at about 8:15 p.m. when she was approached by a man she didn’t know. 

The man, described as between 26 and 28 years old and approximately 6-feet tall and around 200 lbs., told her to read the note he held in his hands, police said.

The woman told police she said, "I don't know you and I'm not going to read the note."

The man seemed angry and left the bank heading towards Orange on Main Street, she told police.

In the report, police noted the man waited to approach the woman until she was alone at the ATM.

Although she did not read the note, she told police it may have been an attempt to rob her.
