Man Arrested on Rt. 280 for Alleged Possession, Distribution of Drugs

Bijit Menon, 33, of Flanders, arrested Jan. 15 around 8 p.m.

A 35-year-old Flanders man was arrested Jan. 15 on Route 280 for alleged possession and distribution of heroin and crack cocaine, West Orange Police said.

According to the report, Bijit Menon was stopped at around 8 p.m. while traveling west on the highway near Mount Pleasant Avenue. 

Menon was asked to exit his Ford pickup and appeared to be under the influence of narcotics, officials said.

Police searched Menon's truck and found what they believed to be heroin, bags of crack cocaine, a pipe with marijuana residue and a straw with powdery substance. 

Menon was arrested and charged with possession and distribution of crack cocaine and heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled-dangerous substance in a motor vehilce and non-functioning mantenance lamps.

Menon was arrested and taken to police headquarters before being released pending a municipal court date.
