Images of 'Person of Interest' in West Orange Shooting Released

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office released surveillance footage captured the night of the shooting at Misty's Restaurant and Bar.

 

Authorities are asking for help in finding a person of interest in the  at Misty’s Restaurant and Bar early Monday morning.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office released images taken by a surveillance camera of a man inside of the bar, located at 277 Main St., the night of the shooting.

The images show what appears to be a white or Hispanic man, with short, black hair and of medium build. 

The bouncer shot to death in the rear of the bar was identified as Jacques Nelson, 32, of Orange. Nelson was breaking up a fight between patrons in the municipal parking lot when he was fatally shot at approximately 2 a.m., according to the ECPO.

Nelson was a Haitian native and a father of four, according to NJ.com.

There is no more information being released by the prosecutor's office at this time, according to ECPO spokeswoman Katherin Carter. 

A reward of $5,000 is being offered by the Essex County Sheriff’s Crimestoppers program to anyone who can provide information leading to an arrest and conviction in the shooting. 

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office tips line at 1-877-847-7432. The names of callers will remain anonymous.
