Four Teens Robbed at Gunpoint, Cops Say

Recent crime wave continues as two men with a gun robbed the teenagers near the Rosedale Cemetery last week.

Four West Orange teenagers were robbed at gunpoint near the Rosedale Cemetery early Wednesday morning, police said.

According to Lt. Robert Williams, the group was walking on Watchung Avenue at about 12:30 a.m. when two men with a silver handgun approached them from behind.

The pair demanded the teens’ belongings and stole an iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, headphones, makeup and $15 in cash, Williams said.

According to the report, the teens described the robbers as 17 to 18 years old with thin builds wearing blue jeans and hooded sweatshirts. One of the men was about 5-foot-7 wearing a bandana over his face while the other was approximately 5-foot-10.

The two fled down Watchung Avenue and onto Washington Street toward Main Street.

This is the 11th armed robbery adding to this year's increase in theft and robberies.

Recently, the township asked for the community’s help prevent crime  as it adds patrols and surveillance cameras throughout town.

The West Orange Police also responded with some tips for residents to help prevent incidents in the future.
