Fire Rips Through Home in Gregory Section

An early-morning fire Thursday on Walker Road caused severe smoke and fire damage and rendered the home uninhabitable.

A fire broke out at a home on Walker Road located in the Gregory neighborhood early Thursday morning, according to the West Orange Public Information Officer Jessica Glicker.

The fire broke out at approximately 1 a.m.  A cause and origin of the fire is still pending, according to Glicker.

No one was injured in the blaze.

The fire was scattered on the first and second floors upon firefighters arrival, according to Glicker, with fire self venting out of multiple windows.

According to Glicker, the building was severely damaged by the fire and suffered partial structural collapse and was deemed uninhabitable by a construction official.

Members of the West Orange, Orange and South Orange Fire Departments responded and were able to contain the fire to the main floor.

As of Thursday afternoon, windows were boarded up on the house due to damage and security.
