Editor's Note: Goodbye, WO-Town

Wilwohl leaves West Orange post

West Orange Patch launched June 30 last year. I started in the township two days before launch. In those 48 hours, I learned more about the area than some lifelong residents (or so it seemed). In the roughly 10 months that followed, I immersed myself in its politics, schools, crime, arts, sports, real estate ... And, now, it's time to move on.

I'll be helping lead Patch.com's news operations in Newark as of Thursday.

West Orange Patch readers/viewers, though, won't be left without news. My successor, Karen Yi, knows the news business and has traveled the world for a good story. She's also worked on Patch's team in Essex County since last year.

I can assure you that with Karen in charge, Patch will continue to delve into core issues concerning residents of West Orange — education, government, crime. It also will continue to offer features, arts, sports and events coverage to the township.

Karen's email is karen.yi@patch.com. I know West Orange will welcome her, as it did me.

Josh you are going to rock Newark the way you did West Orange. And Karen is going to do amazingly well in the Township. Go Patch!

Josh: West Orange is in good hands with Karen. Newark will be an amazing Patch with all the experience you garnered in West Orange.

Communities thrive only with widespread, informed involvement. Three cheers for Josh and WO Patch for bringing about an informed, engaged citizenry. It's been my privilige to work with Josh since day one on WO Patch and the extraordinary art community and art driven community events. Thank you for your tireless and insightful coverage of our town, Carol

Good luck, Josh. I look forward to the Newark Patch! I'm sure you'll build a great Patch for Newark, as you did in West Orange. Welcome, Karen! (Which seems funny to say, since you've been here so long already.) I look forward to working with you. Jennifer

Josh, it was great getting to know you and talk real estate and community with you. You gave West Orange a wider voice, another voice through Patch. It was fun, insightful, and showed so many sides of West Orange. You probably do leave knowing more about the town than most residents, but know you would have learned so much more if you stayed. Compared to the size, variety of topics and ongoings in Newark, you just got your feet wet here. Hit Newark with the same tenacity you did with West Orange. Always be balanced and fair. Always be diligent and persevere. Here's to you.
