WEST ORANGE HIGH SCHOOL WINTER COLOR GUARD RANKED 2nd IN THE NATION BY WINTER GUARD INTERNATIONAL FOR SCHOLASTIC OPEN CLASS

On Saturday March 1st, the West Orange Winter Guard competed in the Winter Guard International (WGI) Eastern Regional in South Brunswick, NJ.  Over 50 color guards from across the country and Canada competed in a double round of Preliminary and Finals Competition.  

“The color guards in attendance traveled from New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, North Carolina, and Canada,” said West Orange High School Band Director Erin E. McClure. “It was an exciting and competitive competition.”  

The WOHS color guard competed in the "Scholastic Open" class in a group of five teams. In the preliminary round, the West Orange High School color guard placed 3rd with a score of 79.3 qualifying them for the Finals Round in which they placed 2nd with a score of 81.3.

Color guard rankings were announced by WGI (Winter Guard International) on March 3rd with the WOHS Winter Guard ranked 2nd in the nation out of thirty-one color guard teams in the Scholastic Open class!
