ORANGE WEST ORANGE UNICO

ORANGE WEST ORANGE CHAPTER OF UNICO NATIONAL JOINS THE FUN AT THE TOWN's BBQ!

Hi

I am the past president of Orange West Orange Chapter of UNICO National. I am a first generation Italian American. I love my heritage and one of the attractions for me was to be a part of this Italian American organization that supports my life as an American. As an American, I can keep my family traditions alive and share them with others.

I want to thank the committee and the chair Michelle Cdeau for contacting me today to come and enjoy our town's Community BBQ for newcomers. I also suspected that there were also some older members coming to see what was happening. It was a beautiful day meeting all the lovely faces.

I was able to meet people and tell them about our organization whicj has been serving for over 50 years. So to those who are unsure about us we are a Service Organization. The monies we raise goes to the our community.

Each year we have certain fun raisers to collect funds to give back to the community. We give out scholarships to our HS students and provide help to needy groups within the town. This year we will hold our second annual Christmas Party for the children. In partnership with the Community Center and any recommendations form the Mayor's Sunshine fund we will be holding our second annual Children's Christmas Party. But that is not all we do, we get involve with special projects like the building of the special garden, Nicholas R Vecchio's Unico Memorial Garden by the Katz Community center.

We have supported the 150th celebration by giving a check for video production of our town's history. The Sport's breakfast and the Carnival are our major fundraisers to provide assistance to our commmunity. During my term in office my special project was to help one of Girl Scout Troop 53 attend the 100th Jubilee of Girl Scouting in the US. 23 little girl scouts and 3 scout leaders attended the Celebration on June 23rd.

We welcome new members of Italian AMerican descent both men and women.

If you are interested in joing, check us out by  emailing me at mjberger.8850@gmail.com. You are invited to one free dinner at our general meeting held at Primavera Restaurant on the 3rd wednesday's of the Month. Always check the Patch calendar. I post out general meeting time and agenda.

By the way we won the 4th Annual Bocce tournament for Cancer research and V foundation. The money raised will go to St. Jude's Hospital this year..
