Mustangs Defeat Cobras - Remain Undefeated

The West Orange PAL 10 U Pee Wee Mustangs beat Montclair 14-0 on October 13, 2013, to stay undefeated and in first place in the Twin Valley Conference. The Mustangs used the power run game to take over this contest. Montclair tried to take away the outsides but they left the middle vulnerable.  Fullback Pharele Brun took advantage with 66 yards on 10 carries and his first touchdown. Shakhi Carson added 46 yards on 6 carries. And Makhi Green had his biggest performance of the year despite the fact Montclair tried to key on him all game, rushing for 126 yards and a TD on 8 carries. Jayson Raines added a two point catch and Aidan Healey also added a nice catch. Both completions were great passes from QB Sean Brown. The offensive line led the way. Chris Parsons, Zander Timothy, Syncere Flanagan, Adrian Charles, Jahsil Ashe, Jordan Quiles, JJ Scavalla, Raines and Anthony Brown controlled the line and protected the backs. Dorian Rawls and Divine Zaire also added to the backfield success. The Mustangs gained 265 yards all together.

The defense was outstanding this week only allowing one first down the entire game. Carson led the way with 7 tackles and 2 sacks. Fellow middle linebacker Chris Parsons added 3 tackles and a sack. Ends Pharele Brun and Jason Raines combined for 3 more sacks. Adam Asbhy was all over the field with 5 tackles of his own. Jordan Quiles, Jared Massay, Dorian Rawls, Aidan Healey and Divine Zaire also played big roles in shutting down the Montclair offense. Adrian Charles, Zander Timothy, Bowen Wright and Syncere Flanagan controlled the line up front. Montclair just couldn’t keep up with the Mustangs on either side of the ball.

The team's head coach is Andrew Mazurek.   The NATIONAL PREP & YOUTH FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION currently has these guys ranked 7th in the state. A few more wins and hopefully another Conference Championship may prove to have this team ranked even higher.  

The Mustangs  have tons of support including ever energetic Pee Wee Mustang Cheerleaders who are coached by Laura and Brooke Rivas. 

The Mustangs are set to face the 3-2 East Orange Jaguars in East Orange next.
