MUSTANGS CLINCH FIRST SEED - WIN BATTLE OF UNBEATENS

MUSTANGS STAY ON TOP - TWO MORE VICTORIES OVER CLIFTON

The West Orange PAL 10U Pee Wee Mustangs stayed undefeated by handing Clifton their first lost of the season. It was a battle in the dust.  Head Coach Andrew Mazurek along with Tom Brennan, Tommy Brennan Jr., Russ DeSantis, Carmen D'Aiuto led the boys in an action packed game ending with West Orange on top 13-12.

Shakhi Carson came up big, rushing for 73 yards on six caries including a 50 yard touchdown to start the game. Clifton really focused on stopping Makhi Green but he was able to break loose when it counted and gave the Mustangs the lead in the second half with a 45 yard TD run. The touchdown came after Aidan Healey made a great kick on special teams that Dorian Rawls recovered to steal possession of the ball to start the second half. Jayson Raines would add the important extra point on a pass from Sean Brown to go up 13-6. Brown also completed two passes for 17 yards in the game. Pharele Brun, Rawls, Zander Lipsey and Divine Zaire helped out in the backfield as well. This was a tough physical matchup and the offensive line deserves a lot of credit for holding strong all game. Chris Parsons, Zander Timothy, Syncere Flanagan, Adrian Charles, Jahsil Ashe, Jordan Quiles and Raines put it all out there each and every play.

The defense faced its toughest match this week. Carson was outstanding with 9 tackles, a fumble recovery and a sack. Chris Parsons added 5 big tackles, a sack and forced fumble. The interior line made up of Zander Timothy (5 tackles, sack, forced fumble), Adrian Charles (3 tack) and Syncere Flanagan (3 tack) deserve a lot of credit for taking on double teams all day and still making big plays. Linebackers Adam Ashby (6 tack), Hunter Bonaparte (4 tack) and Quiles (3 tack) also were strong all game. The secondary was led by Jared Massay, who had 6 tackles and a huge interception. Dorian Rawls, Lipsey and Zaire all held strong in the defensive backfield. Raines and Brun each added a sack from the defensive end positions. The game came down to one play as Clifton went for two and the win after their late touchdown. The exciting game ended with the Clifton pass going incomplete as Lipsey and Massay closed in on the receiver in the end zone.

On Monday night the Mustangs met Clifton again and came out with a 6-0 victory. Adam Ashby was the lead back. He had many powerful runs and helped the Mustangs move down the field and hold possession. Gilberto Robinson scored the game’s only points late in the game with a great touchdown run. Surpreme Zaire, Jordan Reynoso and Hunter Bonaparte did a good job in the backfield. Colton Lehrer took control of the offense and helped move the ball down the field at quarterback. The line held strong with Gavin Rembert, Anthony Chapman, Miles Morgan, Bowen Wright, Anthony Brown, Aidan Healey, James Flowers and Aidan Carter all staying tough all game. Wright, Rembert and Healey led on the defensive side as well. Austin Cowley, Marcus Green, Syhan Webb, Tajir Brown, Brandon Ali-Ramproop, Marco Davino, and Tommy Minichillo brought great energy to the defensive side to hold the shutout.

The Mustangs are now 7-0 in the Twin Valley Conference clinching their first place position, assuring them a place in the playoffs and hopefully a winning a second championship title.
