MAKHI GREEN'S TWO TOUCHDOWNS SPARKED A BIG WIN IN EAST ORANGE TO START A MUSTANG SWEEP FOR THE WEEKEND

PAL JR PEE WEE MUSTANGS HAVE BIG WINS OVER EAST ORANGE THIS WEEK

The West Orange PAL Junior Pee Wee Mustangs remain undefeated.  The team improved improved to 5-0 at East Orange with an impressive 20-6 win. Makhi Green was the big star on the day. He had touchdown runs of 38 and 52 yards and also caught a pass for 10 yards. Green finished with 109 total yards to lead the Mustangs. Elijah Brown added a TD and 45 yards rushing. Quarterback Sean Brown also had a nice day. He rushed for 39 yards and had an extra 2 point pass to Jayson Raines. Fullback Pharelle Brun had strong runs up the middle and made big lead blocks for the running backs. All of this could not have been done without great blocking. Chris Parsons, Zander Timothy, Adrian Charles, Jarrett Waiters, Jared Massay, Jonathan Salazar, Syncere Flanigan, Bowen Wright, and Jordan Quiles did a great job staying tough and driving back the Panthers.

The defense also had a big game holding East Orange to 6 points. Jacob Maurice led the Mustangs with 8 tackles. Shakhi Carson added 5 tackles and Chris Parsons had 4 and a sack. Their energy and aggressiveness was exciting to watch. Elijah Brown also added a sack and a fumble recovery. The defense was also helped by strong efforts from Waiters, Flanigan, Brun, Raines, Jared Massay, Divine Zaire, Gavin Rembert and Adam Ashby.

The Mustangs moved to 6 and 0 when they won their Monday night game against the Panthers 18-6. There was a lot of exciting action, including two long TDs from Divine Zaire and a long TD run from Dorian Rawls. Adam Ashby and Colton Lehrer had some nice runs and QB Zander Lipsey hit Aidan Healy on a 20 yard pass on a 4th down to set up the team’s first score. Miles Morgan, Hunter Bonaparte, Aidan Carter, David Pedo, Gilberto Robinson, Sean Tandy, Bowen Wright, Gavin Rembert and Larry Verducci all played well in the exciting win.

This year's team is lead by dedicated head coach Andrew Mazurek and his equally dedicated assistants Tommy Brennan, Tommy Brennan Jr., Russ DeSantis, Carmen D'Aiuto, and Derrick Morrison.

The Mustangs are set to play rival Jersey City this Sunday, October 7, 2012 in West Orange at 10:30 am.  Jersey City beat West Orange last year in the Twin Valley Football Conference Championship.  The Mustangs are preparing for a tough game and hope to avenge that loss.
