Pleasantdale Château to Host Edison Birthday Gala

The Friends of Thomas Edison National Historical Park Invites the Public to Pleasantdale Château to Celebrate the Famed Inventor's 166th Birthday

On Monday, February 11, 2013, Pleasantdale Château in West Orange, NJ will host an “Edison Birthday Gala.” The event, organized by the Friends of Thomas Edison National Historical Park, will include a cocktail reception, dinner dance, and live big-band music from Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks. Proceeds generated from ticket purchases will help to support the Thomas Edison National Historical Park.

Pleasantdale Château Chef Robert Albers will present a specially designed menu for the evening, which will begin with a 6:30 p.m. cocktail reception, leading to a 7:30 p.m. dinner.

Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks are renowned on the New York scene for their commitment to preserving and authentically presenting 1920s and ‘30s jazz and popular music. More than simply a performer, Giordano is a big-band historian and collector with more than 60,000 scores in his collection.

Since its formation in 1976, this dynamic ensemble has been booked for black tie galas at the New York Public Library, the Waldorf Astoria, the Rainbow Room and many private events for the patrons of the NY Pops, NYC Opera, NYC Ballet and countless charitable organizations.

Most recently, Vince Giordano & the Nighthawks won a 2012 GRAMMY for Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media for their work on the CD “Boardwalk Empire Volume 1 – Music from the HBO Original Series.” Vince and the band are heard and seen on “Boardwalk Empire” as well as the USA Network series “Royal Pains.”
