September's Children and Teen Events at WOPL

This summer at the West Orange Public Library we had dozens of events and storytimes for children and teens, with a visit from a robot dinosaur, a magician, a puppet show, a zombie costume party, a video game tournament, and many more special programs to promote creativity, reading, and plain old fun.

With the summer reading program now coming to an end, it’s time to look toward what events we have planned for this fall. Regular storytimes will resume in October, along with chess club and book clubs children and teens.

But in September we’ll also have the following events:

Children’s Programs

Harvest Moon Storytime, Monday, Sept. 9, 16 and 30, 7 p.m. – Families with children of all ages can participate in this fun program with stories, fingerplays, rhymes, and songs.

Lego Club, Tuesday, Sept. 10, 4 p.m. – Children between grades K to 5 can drop-in to build friendships and Lego creations at this monthly club.

Downtime With Disney, Saturday, Sept. 21, 2 to 4:30 p.m. – Families can relax together and enjoy a Disney movie in the library.

Teen Programs

Open Mic, Wednesday, Sept. 4, 7 p.m. – Grades 6 to 12 – Teens can share their musical, poetic, or comedic talents at this open mic. Sign-ups are available online. We’ll provide the mics and speakers, you bring your instruments and talent. Light percussion only.

Game Night, Wednesday, Sept. 18, 7 p.m. – Grades 6 to 12 – Stop by to play Nintendo Wii, chess, or other board games. Bring your friends!

Anime Club, Wednesday, Sept. 25, 7 p.m. – Grades 6 to 12 – The anime club is back for this first meeting of the fall. Stop by to discuss your favorite manga, films, or comics. Anime artists and writers welcome to bring their art work or work on something new at each meeting.
