Junior Girl Scouts Honored for Charity Work

The troop was recognized for making blankets and donating them to the Children's Ward of St. Barnabas Medical Center.

Junior Girl Scout Troop 20745 of St. Cloud School were honored by the township council at the township council meeting Tuesday night.

The troop members were each given citations by council president Susan McCartney for their hard work and generosity through various fundraisers. The troop most recently made blankets and gave them to children in the Children's Ward at St. Barnabas Medical Center.

"It has been my honor to be their leader at St. Cloud for the past five years," troop leader Alisa Vural said at the meeting. "They are making an impact in the world."

The troop has 35 girls, according to Vural, and the fifth grade scouts were present at the meeting

"We learned kindness and respect for those less fortunate than we are," girl scout Sophia Lewis said at the council meeting, in regards to the blanket-making initiative.

McCartney commended them for their hard work and dedication to others.

"They certainly live by the Girl Scout Promise," McCartney said at the meeting.
